Backup and Restore

How can I backup my Cigar Master database?

Your Cigar Master database is automatically saved on your desktop computer whenever you do a HotSync. It's stored in your Pilot user directory as a "PbCigarDB.pdb" file.

Use the Palm desktop Install tool to install the Cigar Master database that was saved on your desktop computer. The Cigar Master database is automatically saved on your desktop computer whenever you do a HotSync. It's stored in your Palm user directory as the "PbCigarDB.pdb" file.

Finding Cigars.

How can I find a cigar quickly?

Use the Palm OS Find command.
  1. Tap the Palm OS Find button in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  2. Enter the cigar name (or part of a cigar name) and tap OK.
You can also enter maker, origin, or a notes term for the Find.

My cigar list is getting very long. Is there a quick way to get to a particular cigar?

You can use type-select to quickly scroll to a particular cigar.
  1. The cigar list displays the cigars in alphabetical order.
  2. You get to a cigar quickly by stroking its first letter in the graffiti area.
  3. The list scrolls to the first item that starts with that letter.
You can also use the scroll bar to move through the list.

Why should I register?

Registration gives you the following benefits:

You obtain a registration number and enter it into Cigar Master.
  1. Follow the registration instructions to register.
  2. Tap the Options-Register menu item.
  3. Enter the registration number.
  4. Tap OK.

My registration number has expired. What should I do?

A temporary registration is given to you when you purchase Cigar Master from other distributers. Shortly after purchasing Cigar Master you will get a permanent registration number from The Grand Poohbah. Replace the temporary registration number with the permanent one. See How do I register? for instructions on how to enter a registration number.

I got a new handheld, but lost my registration. What should I do?

Send an email to The Grand Poohbah. He will look you up in the registration database and send youSee How do I register? for instructions on how to enter a registration number.

Updates

How do I install a Cigar Master update?

Use the InstallApp on your desktop computer to install a Cigar Master update. Do not delete the old copy of Cigar Master on your Palm OS handheld (This will delete your Cigar database. If you accidentally delete your Cigar database, you can still restore it).
Install the Cigar Master update as follows:
1. Unzip the download.
2. Open the Palm Desktop program group and select the Palm Install Tool.
3. In the User Name drop-down menu, choose the User Name that corresponds to your Palm OS handheld.
4. Click the Browse button and select the .prc file.
5. Click the Install button.
6. Click the Exit button.
7. Perform a local HotSync operation in the usual manner.
The application that you specified in step 3 will be installed automatically during the course of the HotSync.

The software version is displayed on the Get Info form.
1. Tap the MENU button in the lower-left corner of the screen.
2. Tap the Get Info menu item in the Options menu.
The version number is displayed beneath the product name.
